MY PERSONAL JOURNEY
Growing up, my family dealt with my Dad’s heart condition. He struggled with atherosclerosis leading to advanced cardiovascular disease. After 2 open heart surgeries and a carotid endarterectomy, my Dad passed while I was only in my early 20’s.
My Mom was a teacher, so my parents wanted me to be a teacher. However, my Dad’s battle with heart healthy eating and weight control affected me deeply. I also inherited Dad’s high cholesterol condition. Learning about healthy eating to help him as well as my family, I found nutrition and its positive impact on health and disease management to be, not only a career path, but a passion and mission.
My education included internships in food science and research, but I found my calling with people interaction and counseling. I love meeting people from diverse backgrounds, hearing their journeys, challenges and battles with food and health. Then developing an achievable and sustainable plan to address their goals while providing ongoing counseling and emotional support.
My family shares my passion for good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. We love exercise, food and cooking together—both at home and on family vacations!
